Accommodation
Villa Bangkuang is comprised of a main two-storey main building, an open-sided lounging and dining pavilion, and a separate two-bedroom guest pavilion. The style is calming, with a fresh cool decor; the modern fittings, fixtures and clean crisp design is harmonised with antique artifacts.

Flanked by ornamental ponds and guarded by a pair of griffin fountain-statues, the living pavilion overlooks the pool and is shaded from both the morning and afternoon sun. It is tastefully furnished with a dining table and chairs, seagrass sofas and ottomans. The comfort of the guests is ensured by yielding cushions and paddle ceiling fans. A hidden office-styled library is fitted with shelves and a desk. A compact, well-stocked bar and fully equipped, homely kitchen with glassless windows provides all the necessary dining and entertainment amenities.

There are four spacious air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Bangkuang, each with an en-suite bathroom, a DVD player and a safe deposit box. The master suite, complete with full-length balcony, covers the whole of the upper floor, overlooking the garden and rice fields stretching infinitely towards the ocean. Characterised by a polished parquet floor and a soaring roof, the romantic bedroom is furnished with a king-size, four-poster bed swathed in snowy netting. The garden complements the native vegetation behind the pavilions and the dazzling rice fields to the front with a smooth, manicured lawn, where the 17 x 5 metre swimming pool appears to overflow into infinity. Sunloungers and shady umbrellas, together with an indulgent poolside bar, make this a very relaxing area in which to hang out. An old rudder from a traditional jukung fishing boat makes an interesting sculpture, while a flowering shrub adds a striking splash of colour. The coconut grove garden, dotted with frangipani blossoms, extends to a narrow brook, traversed by a wooden bridge, which separates the guest pavilion from the common area. A shaded platform, known as a ‘bale’ and used for lounging and chatting in a Balinese village, is here raised to new heights-treetop level, in fact. This elevated, thatched pavilion is open to cooling tropical breezes on the hottest of days, and affords a sweeping vista of the rice fields, mountains, and sea. In another corner of the garden a traditional ‘jineng’ rice barn presents the perfect spot for a pampering indulgent massage.

Villa Bangkuang is supported by a cherished ‘family’ of friendly staff who fulfil their duties with enthusiasm and smiles. The team is headed by a Kadek Santri, the villa manager. She is always on hand to oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and to assist guests during their stay. Mundri, the cook, is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. Iluh fulfils the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Wayan and Pak Agus are the night security guards. Their duties are to guard the villa to ensure your security and safety. Dewa is the gardener; he has looked after the gardens since the villa was first built. Finally, Komang is the pool attendant.

Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge. The team also includes an in-house concierge service; Kadek Edu, with her quiet efficiency and profound knowledge of the locale, is responsible for booking restaurants, organising tours, daytrips and ticketing. Location
Villa Bangkuang is located in Sogsogan, a charming seaside village surrounded by rice fields and set against the twin backdrops of misty volcanoes and pounding surf. Although only 25 minutes’ drive from the cosmopolitan glamour of Seminyak, Sosogan and the neighbouring Seseh village retain the customs and culture of old Bali. Cows are herded through the fields, rice is planted and harvested throughout year, and the sound of ritual music is carried on the breeze. The approach to Seseh is by way of a country lane; emerald rice fields line the road as it meanders through an avenue of coconut palms. Farmers in conical hats riding rusty old upright bicycles are a common sight-the bucolic daily life of the village has not been dented by tourism.

Furthermore, there are frequent, colourful processions to Seseh’s beachside Hindu temple. On special festival days, thousands of devout Hindus from neighbouring villages wearing ceremonial dress-the women carrying huge pyramids of fruit and flower offerings on their heads-converge on this important temple to perform cleansing rituals beside the ocean. On other occasions, the air is thick with the scent of burning incense and the clear metallic sound of the gamelan orchestra, as the white clad priests symbolically sever their connection with the everyday world and invite the gods to “come down and join us”.

Echo Beach at Canggu, which is bordered by a surfing reef and noted for a casual and lively beach-side dining scene, is a pleasant one-kilometre walk along the seashore. This is the place where the local community gathers in the evenings to watch the legendary sunsets. Designed to maximise the natural light, and catch the cool breezes even at the hottest time of year, the property offers a blend of air-conditioned comfort and tropical open-air living. There are numerous relaxation areas, so guests will always find a private spot for peace and quiet. In fact, a large family or group of people could stay at the villa and still lose each other within its depths. In addition to this, guests have the choice of a number of different eating areas, all of which present a unique atmosphere, enhanced by the constant sound of the waves together with wonderful views of the beach and the Indian Ocean.

Garden, Pool & Sunset Deck
The garden of the villa is dominated by a 20 x 5 metre lap pool, with a waterfall at one end. There is also a children’s pool fed by water spouts. A timber sun deck, furnished with four sunbeds and two umbrellas, runs the length of the pool and on the opposite side is the ‘Sunset Deck’ a large wooden deck resting at the same elevation as the upper floor of the villa. Soothed by the sound of the waterfall, this is an enchanting area for chilling out with a cocktail at sunset enhanced by beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Underneath the deck is another relaxation area, which is also suitable for al fresco dining, and furnished with sofas, a dining table and bench seats. The walled garden boasts a neat flat lawn dotted with sweet-scented frangipani trees and towering coconut palms. At the top end of the pool is a stone deck sheltered by pink frangipani trees, and above this is a wide flight of sixteen stone steps, this grand entrance takes visitors up to the large living and dining room on the upper floor.

Master Bedroom
The air-conditioned Master Bedroom is located at ground level. It features a warm timber floor and modern dark wood furnishings including a king size bed, softly cushioned chairs, an ottoman, a large wall mirror and an L-shaped desk in one corner. A large cabinet houses a 21-inch TV, together with a DVD and quality sound system. The interior decor showcases the chic signature style of Dean Kempnich, with an olive and deep cerise theme. The bed is dressed in sumptuous silk fabrics with an array of scatter cushions in toning shades. This picture of luxury is completed with funky cerise-pink lamps.

A spacious adjoining dressing room presents plenty of storage and hanging space, with fitted cupboards and large wall mirrors. There is also a safe deposit box.

The dressing room leads into an en-suite terrazzo-floored bathroom, characterised by a large terrazzo bathtub. Twin ceramic washbasins rest upon a terrazzo vanity unit and the toilet is positioned to one side. All of the guests’ needs have been considered with the installation of excellent lighting. At the far end of the bathroom is a walk-in shower boasting a semi-open air ambience and an abundance of natural light, due to the provision of an open area at the top and sides of the shower, which allows the cool breezes to circulate. The shower is complemented by a myriad of textures with a Palimanan stone and pebble floor, timber panelling, frosted glass, and a random rock wall.

Sliding glass doors open from the bedroom on to a stone verandah furnished with two cushioned chairs and a table. Sheltered by a roof, this shady nook is bordered by a hedge of bulrushes for privacy.

Children’s Bedroom with adjoining babysitter room
The second bedroom on the ground floor is suitable for children because it is adjoined by a small room designed to accommodate a babysitter. The babysitter room is furnished with cupboards and a bed.

The children’s room features twin mattresses resting upon a wide base. This air-conditioned room is also suitable for a couple, because the mattresses can be pushed together to create a double bed. The room features a wall-length desk, built-in shelf units, a timber floor, and a very private verandah accessed by sliding glass doors and located in the back corner of the villa’s walled garden. The verandah is furnished with two chairs and a table. The bedroom is also equipped with a 20-inch TV, DVD and sound system, and a safe deposit box. A dedicated dressing area features a large wall mirror and fitted cupboards. The en-suite terrazzo bathroom presents a vanity unit with a washbasin, toilet and walk-in shower, complete with tiled floor, random rock walls and frosted glass screens, which are open at the top to allow cross ventilation of the natural breezes.

Kitchen
The state-of-the art service kitchen is fully equipped with everything that the staff need in order to prepare delicious meals. Located on the ground floor, it is fitted with gleaming appliances, black marble units, a central island, and a large oven with a six-burner gas hob. This expansive and impressive kitchen is also a professional facility for outside caterers to prepare lavish feasts for weddings, parties and special functions. A precious feature, rarely seen in Bali, is the electric food elevator, designed to convey food and other items from the kitchen to the dining room on the upper floor.

The kitchen area is also the location of the linen room, laundry, and staff rooms. There is a guest washroom located on the ground floor close to the main entrance.

Living & Dining Room
The magnificent Living & Dining Room is the central focus of the villa; it is accessed by a grand flight of Palimanan stone steps leading up from the pool terrace, in addition to another staircase located near the front door. This long room is characterised by a polished wood floor with a terrazzo border under a soaring dark timber roof. Colourful local artwork adorns the walls and, at one end, sliding glass doors open onto a verandah with a gorgeous ocean view. As soon as these doors are opened, the room is filled with cool sea breezes accompanied by the melodious sound of the waves. A set of folding glass doors above the central staircase can be opened to increase the effects of the cross ventilation, and the room is also equipped with four pendulous steel ceiling fans. When the doors are closed, guests have the option of air-conditioned comfort.

At one end of the room is black marble bar, behind which is a small kitchenette complete with a 3-burner hob, a sink, and a wine cooler housing a good selection of wines. This is the area to which the food is transported by elevator from the downstairs service kitchen, and there is also a staff staircase with direct access to the kitchen. Next to the bar is the dining area furnished with a large square dining table that comfortably seats twelve.

The living area is on the seaward side of the room, furnished with a long sofa, scatter cushions, ottomans, a coffee table, an arching chrome standard lamp, and a dark wood cabinet housing a TV, DVD player and quality sound system.

More doors at the opposite end of the living and dining room lead out onto a large U-shaped stone deck, which wraps itself around the far side of the villa, more than doubling the space of the living and dining area, thereby making it a perfect venue for parties. One section of this deck is sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof, which provides shade while still allowing the natural light to shine through. This cool verandah is furnished with a circular table and chairs, ideal for casual alfresco dining. Another area is furnished with a large built-in cushioned daybed for relaxing, sleeping or sunbathing.

Bedrooms 3 & 4
The 3rd and 4th bedrooms are located on the upper floor, on the same level as the living and dining room. Furnished with queen size beds, desks and ottomans, these air-conditioned bedrooms feature wooden floors, and each follows an olive and chocolate colour theme. Each is equipped with a TV, DVD player and sound system, and safe deposit box. One room has a narrow balcony and the other boasts a large stone balcony overlooking the pool and garden. Both of the bedrooms, the balconies and the bathrooms boast glorious sea views. Each bedroom has a dressing area with built in storage, and each has an en-suite terrazzo bathroom equipped with a porcelain washbasin, a toilet, wall mirrors, and a walk in shower comprised of natural green tiles and frosted glass screens, open at the top to facilitate cross ventilation of the natural sea breezes.

These two bedrooms have an interconnecting door, located between the dressing areas. The door can be locked or left open according to guest’s needs.

Rooftop verandah
A spiral staircase extends from the living room verandah up to a unique chill-out area located at roof level. Here, another breezy verandah is cooled by sea breezes and sheltered by a timber and clear polycarbonate roof. The view from here, of Bali’s dramatic coastline stretching all the way down to Uluwatu, is spectacular.

Services
Villa Canggu is supported by a carefully selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes an in-house chef, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, pool attendants and security guards operating on a 24-hour shift basis. The chef is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfil all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge. Location

LOCATION
Emerald River is located in Canggu 300 meters from the beach on Nelayan Street (Fishermen village). A typical Balinese fisherman village is close by and every morning it will be proposed to your cook fresh lobster, king size prawns, garupa.. according to the catch of the day. The villa is surrounded with rice field, tropical trees as well and other high luxury villas making this very Balinese district one of the most luxurious of Bali. The villa is situated 35 minutes from the airport, 20 minutes from Seminyak the famous shopping and entertainment area, and 15 minutes from Nirwana one of the best Golf course in Asia.

VILLA STYLE
The 4 bedrooms villa of 780 m2 is composed of 4 different 2 storey buildings linked on the second floor by a large terrace and pathway bridges. The 150 m2 overflow swimming pool surrounded by a gym room, the terrace and the open space living room is overlooking the rest of the property and gives an extraordinary feeling of luxury so well integrated in the true Bali. The 2000 m2 land with numerous tropical trees including a huge mango tree is sloping down until the river 200 meters from the beach.

The villa has been designed by the very reputable Yoka Sara who has expressed a modern architecture but has kept the Balinese touch with traditional material such as wood roof, terrazzo, merbau floor. The furniture and equipment are providing an international high level of comfort and includes 2 satellites communication, wireless internet high speed connection, Bose sound system, LCD flat screen television.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The entrance of the villa is opening directly on a large pebble washed terrace planted of palm trees, a gym on the right side, a very comfortable open space living room all surrounding an amazing 150 m2 swimming pool and a 25 m2 Jacuzzi covered by Indian slate stones giving different colours in connection with the luminosity of the day. From the living room a wood path bridge gives access to the air conditioned dinning room including a fully equipped pantry and to the master bedroom hidden by a fabulous mango tree. The master bedroom equipped with ducting air conditioning, TV, DVD, sound system… features a king size bed with mosquito net a separate office space which can be rearranged into an extra junior room, a dressing, and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom features two basins, a shower, a separate toilet, a make up table and a huge out door terrazzo bath tub situated on a secluded and private terrace. From this upper level, guests can admire the India Ocean situated 200 meters from the villa. On the ground floor of this building two air conditioned bedrooms all fully equipped are featuring king size bed with mosquito net en suite dressing and bathroom all with separate toilet, shower and 2 basins. The corridor is leading the guests to the air conditioned TV room and library and to a second master bedroom fully equipped featuring a king size bed with mosquito net a separate office space which can be rearranged into an extra junior room, a dressing, and an en suite bathroom. The bathroom features two basins, a shower, a separate toilet, a make up table and an out door terrazzo bath tub situated on a secluded and private garden. The staff area including storage laundry and kitchen is situated under the gym. All the bedrooms floor and large sliding windows are made with merbau.

All the rooms are nicely decorated mainly with Balinese arts. The garden is manicured with grass lawn, different type of tropical trees, plants and flowers.

ENTRANCE
From the main gate surrounded by an external tropical garden, a large path slope down to the round about where 4 covered car parks are surrounding the main entrance of the villa. On the right side, a hill planted with tropical trees and the temple are providing a high privacy. On the left a large pound decorated with lotus and bamboo gives the feeling of the best of Bali.

THE TERRACE
The gate of Emerald River is opening on a large pebble wash terrace representing on a large scale different tattoo design. This 150 m2 terrace is planted of several palm trees and is featuring 3 single and 1 double well design long chairs, all equipped with comfortable mattress and protected by umbrellas.

THE POOL
Surrounding on one side by the terrace, the 150 m2 overflow pool plus the 25 m2 whirlpools are 25 m long. The amazing shape, the size, the cladding with Indian stones, the overflow on the garden below and the big mango tree gives certainly the most inviting private swimming pool in Bali.

THE GYM
On the right side of the pool, the 60 m2 open space gym with wood floor is featuring equipment such a Treadmill, Bicycle, Dumbbell, Trainer, balls, DVD and television. The east wall is entirely covered by a mirror.

LIVING AREA
The 100 m2 open space living area with its terrazzo floor is proposing the same tattoo design than for the terrace. It’s featuring on one side very comfortable sofa and armchairs and close to the pool a modern well designed waterproof sofa combined with armchairs and coffee table. The living area is equipped with 3 air fan, Bose sound system.

DINING AREA & PANTRY
From the living area, through a wood bridge, guests entered in the air conditioned dinning room and pantry. All the walls are in wood and glass, the floor in terrazzo. From here, you can see the pool on one side and the ocean on the other side. The high ceiling is equipped of air fan as well. The pantry is fully equipped and the dinning room is featuring a 12 seats round table.

TV & LIBRARY
Under the dinning area a 40 m2 air conditioned TV and library room is featuring large flat TV screen with Bose sound system, 2 sets of sofa and armchairs, 2 large coffee tables, air fan.

BEDROOM 1 (MASTER BEDROOM)
After the dinning, following the wood bridge, you enter in the 70 m2 master bedroom facing the river and the sea. The ducting air-conditioned bedroom with Merbau floor and glass wall with silk curtain on 2 sides is featuring a king size bed with mosquito net, 2 large and comfortable armchairs, a coffee table, satellite TV, DVD player.

At the back, a close and large study room equipped with desk and chair can be transformed on a small junior bedroom facing the river. A large and 4 meters long wood balcony overlooking the garden and its famous big mango tree is providing a special feeling and hidden place.

The walking dressing is featuring a large wardrobe. The terrazzo floor bathroom is featuring indoor a make up table, a separate toilet, a shower and two basins. Outdoor, in a garden surrounded by timber screen for the privacy is featuring a large terrazzo bath tub surrounded by tropical plants and flowers.

The 80 m2 master bedroom is surrounded on the side by a private garden. The ducting air-conditioned bedroom with Merbau floor and glass wall with silk curtain on 2 sides is featuring a king size bed with mosquito net, 1 large and comfortable armchair, a coffee table, satellite TV, DVD player.
