From the moment they enter Seseh village and cross the threshold of Villa Belong Dua, guests will experience the warm hospitality, history and culture of Bali. The name of the villa is taken from a stone water vessel, dating back to a time when these containers could be found in every household, and were used every day to store water for drinking and washing. Several original antique belongs are showcased at the villa, along with an antique ’jineng’, which is a traditional thatched Balinese rice barn and a symbol of social status, indicating that the family who owned it had land for rice culture. The jineng now serves as a place to relax or as a playhouse for kids. The villa’s imposing entrance gate is a copy of an 8th century Hindu temple gate at Angkor Wat in Cambodia and, after passing through this, guests will cross a lily pond complete with a bubbling water feature and a Balinese guardian statue. There is also an antique ’bale gede’ from Bali’s royal Gianyar regency. This lovely old open-sided pavilion made from the timber structure of a Balinese 2 bedroom pavilion was also used for Balinese ceremonies and is now used for relaxation and massage. Villa Belong Dua sits in a traditional street, which is well lit at night. A nearby pathway offers walks through the village to the river, rice fields and beach.

The living pavilion is located close to the main entrance, overlooking the garden and pool. Distinguished by a vaulted roof supported by eight wooden pillars, and open on three sides, it is furnished with a comfy, oversized daybed, and a low dining table sourced from a Javanese ’warung’ (eatery), surrounded by floor cushions. A large mirror reflects the sunny garden, and the pavilion is beautifully lit at night.

Behind the living pavilion is an air-conditioned media room, which doubles as an office it is fitted with built-in desks, sofa area equipped with a Satellite TV and DVD player.

The semi-open-air dining room shares a pavilion with the kitchen, and the two rooms are linked via a service bar that can be closed for privacy. The dining room is furnished with an antique table, six chairs, and an antique wooden chest on wheels, known as a ’gerobog’ originally used for storing rice. There is also an iPod and dock. The room is cooled by ceiling fans and natural breezes, and has the provision of electric blinds on the two open sides in case of rain or strong wind. A guest washroom is positioned to one side of the dining room. The immaculate polished kitchen is fully equipped with a five-burner gas hob and oven, fridge and everything else that the cook needs to create delicious meals.

The two bedrooms are in separate stand-alone pavilions named ’Menaga’ and ’Bangkat’, these names that go back to the time when the village of Seseh was much bigger and administratively divided into three ’banjars’ or local village councils. Each bedroom features an open-air terrace at the front, lit by colonial-style bell-jar lanterns; Bangkat’s terrace is furnished with an antique daybed on wheels, and Menaga’s terrace with a built-in cushioned daybed. Each romantic air-conditioned bedroom is furnished with a king-size netted bed upon a wooden floor complete with a shag pile rug, under a soaring roof. The walls are cream with terracotta tiling behind the bed, and each bedroom is equipped with a wall-mounted LCD screen satellite-channel TV and DVD player. Sliding doors can be opened for cross ventilation and the rooms also have the additional facility of ceiling fans. Each bedroom opens into a delightful, air-conditioned bathroom, decorated in earthy tones. Bangkat’s bedroom has a charming, spacious dressing room off the bathroom, furnished with a wardrobe, chair and a dressing table that doubles as a desk. Bangkat bedroom boasts a recycled timber floor, and a dressing area with a built in wardrobe, a long mirror, and an antique dressing table. Each en-suite bathroom is fitted with a sculptured terrazzo bathtub for two, and double washbasins upon a terrazzo vanity unit, which faces a window to ensure plenty of natural light. Glass doors can be opened for a semi-alfresco bathing experience, complete with an outdoor rain shower set in a private walled courtyard with a pebbled floor and a serene Buddha statue. There is also a handheld shower in each bathtub, and a circular skylight that channels the moonshine.

The large garden at Villa Belong Dua is gorgeous, characterised by mature trees and open skies, with a dazzling 20 x 4 metre swimming pool as its central feature. The slate-lined pool is presided over by a Buddha head statue; it presents a separate shallow section for children and is bordered by a candi stone deck furnished with one double and two single Sunbrella sun beds. There is also the thoughtful provision of an outdoor pool shower. The fragrant landscaped garden has a velvety lawn, and is planted with coconut palms, frangipani, lemon and mango trees, pineapple plants, ginger and lemongrass. It is surrounded by a rustic wall crafted from crushed paras’s stone applied by hand and unpainted. A Balinese temple shrine rests in the northeast corner.

The antique ’bale gede’ is a traditional open-sided pavilion, originally used for Balinese ceremonies such as the Potong Gigi (Tooth Filing Ceremony), and now rests beside the swimming pool. Furnished with two timber built-in beds, some step stools taken from an old sugar cane press and a prayer table, it is a perfect spot for couples to enjoy a massage, or just chill out with a good book. It is constructed of twelve wooden pillars resting on paras’s stone plinths, which support a roof of radiating beam work crowned with alang alang thatch.

Location
A few kilometres to the northwest of Canggu, a towering banyan-one of the ’elders’ of the tree kingdom-heralds the turning to Seseh, a traditional beachside village approached via an avenue of coconut palms.

The village of Seseh still retains the customs and culture of old Bali. Here, you will see the rice being planted and harvested in the fields, fishing boats returning in the morning with the nights catch, as well as frequent, colourful processions to the large beachside temple. There are no international restaurants here, but you might just see a barong dancing on the street. A Barong is a high-spirited, benevolent beast representing the power of good; danced by two men inside an ornate costume. The good news, for folks who want to immerse themselves in the customs and culture of old Bali, is that the people of Seseh encourage and welcome congenial visitors. Historically, the fishing village of Seseh was important in the 18th century when the temple was established as the major temple of the former Kingdom of Mengwi. At that time it was also a small trading port, inhabited by a number of families of Chinese decent. Likewise there are records of Chinese-style shop houses in Banjar Sogsogan during this period.

Today, this is an ideal destination for those who want to get lost in the beauty of the countryside, and for those who want to engage with the local people and gain privileged insights into the Balinese Hindu lifestyle.

Life around you in Padang Linjong is still very traditional – it’s a great place to witness all the Balinese ceremonies and celebrations such as Nyepi, Galungan and Kuningan. There is a temple in our garden which will be visited daily for offerings by Made, or her daughters.

The house has a palatial King size bedroom upstairs with ensuite and aircon, lounge and large flat screen tv/dvd. Downstairs is a Queen Size room with en-suite and aircon. There is an ajoining room which also opens to the open lounge area which can be used as a childrens room or a reading room.

There are four part time staff at the house: Ketut the housekeeper, Wayan the gardener, Wayan the security guard and Yus looks after the pool. Welcoming guests with its generous size and openness, the living room offers a sweeping view of the pool, gardens and adjacent rice fields. There is a polished granite party bar with fridge and sink, and a round table with chairs for intimate dining.

A stairway leads down to the dining room, located on ground level next to the pool terrace. The room is furnished with a three meter long table which seats ten. Folding glass doors offer guests cool alfresco dining and the ambience is enhanced by water sounds emanating from adjacent ornamental ponds, water spouts and bubbling urns.

Kitchen and Media Room
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything the chef needs to prepare delicious meals in accordance with the requests of each guest. A wet kitchen and a laundry room are both tucked away at the back, along with the staff entrance.

The air-conditioned media room is equipped with a 32-inch LCD flat screen TV, DVD player and sound system. This comfortable room is furnished with two deeply-cushioned sofas, traditional batik cushions, a games table with Plexiglas chairs, and an innovative glass topped coffee table created by hand from coffee-wood branches.

ACCOMMODATION

Master Suite
The Master Suite is accessed by an elevated covered walkway. A sliding door opens to reveal the air-conditioned office/living room, complete with antique desk, chairs and original artwork on the walls.

The Master Bedroom shows a splendid king-size, canopied bed, dressed in white linens and mosquito netting. The views from this room and balcony are breathtaking. The balcony is furnished with a cushioned day bed, rattan armchairs and a dining table for a private breakfast or lunch. This is also a wonderful spot for sunset cocktails.

The en-suite air-conditioned bathroom boasts a cream-colored marble floor, an abundance of wall mirrors, and an oval-shaped terrazzo bathtub for two and twin marble washbasins. A toilet cubicle and a separate shower are each entered via frosted glass doors. There is a large closet and dressing area with built-in wardrobes, drawers and plenty of storage space. The free standing Guest House is located on the far side of the living and dining pavilion on ground level. The furnishings include a queen size, four-poster bed fashioned from carved teak, with exquisite white linens and mosquito netting; an antique cabinet housing a TV and DVD player and a writing table and chairs.

The air-conditioned bathroom has a marble floor and a dressing area with fitted wardrobes, huge mirrors, and louvered doors which hide a safe deposit box and mini bar fridge. Double marble topped vanity units support large glass washbowls with teak cupboards and shelves. The toilet cubicle and separate shower are each located behind frosted glass doors.

Glass doors lead to an open air bathroom romantically lit by unique wall lamps. An oversize bathtub is sheltered under the roof eaves, and there is an outdoor rain shower for moonlit bathing.

Villa Avalon Ground
The 16 x 3 meter, blue slate tiled swimming pool has a waterfall at one end, two infinity edges, and is anchored by a Pendopo, used as a Relaxation Pavilion. This ancient structure is the core of a 150-year old wooden Joglo house from Java. Furnished with a rustic table, a deeply cushioned rattan sofa and chairs, this raised pavilion, with its antique terracotta tiled floor is another delightful area for dining, entertaining and relaxing. There is a granite topped bar for serving at the back of the structure. The white Palimanan stone pool terrace is shaded by sweet-scented white frangipani trees; there are four sun beds and two umbrellas.

The expansive gardens are dotted with palm trees and white-flowering shrubs and trees. Open to the rice fields on one side with a view unbroken by walls or fences, the property expands its borders.

Water is a predominant element in the spiritual landscape of Bali. 2 Bedroom Villa
The 2-bedroom villa is covering 1.600 sqm of manicured land. The villa consists of 2 Balinese thatched roof buildings. The main building is a two-storey structure with large, modern kitchen, open plan living and dining room overlooking the pool, tropical gardens, beach, and river setting. The lap swimming pool has size 4 X 12 meters placed in between the two buildings. The master bedroom is positioned in the separate first-story building coming with its private balcony. The Twin Bedroom is on the second-floor of the main building. Attached to the Twin Bedroom upstairs is a wooden floored balcony with coffee table, overlooking the river and ocean. In essence, the 2-bedroom villa doesn’t possess any complicated ornaments or carvers, instead the lines are clear and the colors are earthy.

Villa Baladewa is well appointed and offers all the comforts you would expect at home and as such has universal appeal.

Comfort is king and this is reflected in the amenities at Villa Baladewa, which include a large double sized poolside pavilion with twin king sized mattresses covered in tasteful blue Sunbrella fabric and overhead fan to ensure a flow of air. The pavilion has its own cool box and there is an electrical socket, which is handy for plugging in your iPod, working on your laptop or watching a movie.

Literally a step away from the sanctuary of the pavilion is a refreshing 11m x 3.5m swimming pool which is lined with light-green stone tiles imported from the neighbouring island of Java. The filtration system is chlorine based with a cascading overflow to the garden level.

The split level design of the pool and garden with its coconut palms, bamboo and tropical flora is an interesting concept. In the garden are two sun beds and there are plenty of garden tables and chairs available throughout the villa for you to use.

Living Areas and Bedrooms
Villa Baladewa has two spacious lounges, one open and one enclosed with full air-conditioning and audio/visual facilities including satellite television, DVD player and Bose stereo system. All rooms at the villa are connected by phone via a PABX exchange so if you need to check the children or speak to friends they are only a phone call away.

On the ground floor of the main house is the open lounge with swimming pool and garden views. Upstairs adjacent to the master suite are large double glass paneled doors that open into the upper lounge, which is home to the entertainment system. This room is fully air-conditioned by an LG Art Cool Plasma AC.

The windows can be opened to give the feeling of open living; this is the traditional style which the local Balinese favour. At night the doors can be closed and locked. For extra security the villa is surrounded by a high wall and one of the staff lives in the staff quarters at the rear of the villa so there is always someone home.

There are several places around the swimming pool where you can relax on a sun bed, sit with friends and a drink or enjoy a snack. This is also a great villa for families with older children.

In the lounge there is a stereo system for playing CD’s and Satellite TV with over 30 channels including over 5 movie channels, several sports and news channels. There is also a DVD player so you can watch your own movies.

Bedrooms
There are a total of four air conditioned bedrooms at Villa Baladewa. Two master suites, located on the upper floors of the east and the west wing and two guest suites located on the lower level of the west wing.

All of the bedrooms have wooden flooring and are air-conditioned by an LG ArtCool Plasma AC. Each room has been tastefully furnished with solid hardwood fixtures including, large double beds with bedside tables, lamps, wardrobes and chairs. Each of the two ground floor suites with their king size beds can sleep two adults comfortably; the same is true of the spacious master suites. For an additional fee we have a single bed available which is suitable for children. A baby cot and high chair are also available upon request at time of booking.

All bedrooms are complete with built in wardrobes, beautiful marbled bathrooms, the master suites come equipped with a huge oversize bath tubs and have separate shower cubicles. The main master bedroom also comes equipped with a small safe for the security of your valuables.

The ground floor of the west wing is home to the two guest bedrooms, which each have their own private bathrooms complete with showers, wash basin with hot and cold water, and a toilet. These bedrooms overlook the garden at the rear of the villa and have their own private terraces with rice terrace views.

Villa Staff and Facilities
A fully equipped western style kitchen complete with most modern conveniences including, microwave grill, stove top, kettle, coffee machine, juicer, mixer, etc. Also included in the rental fee is a great cook, experienced in both Asian and western cuisine, you simply supply the ingredients and she will prepare and serve your menus and even clean up afterwards. All you need do is enjoy yourselves.

Add to this the attentive household staff, plus your very own Car and Driver and the recipe for a perfect holiday is almost complete. The final elements are its proximity to major tourist attractions: far enough to give an unmistakable sense of privacy yet close enough to access conveniently at your leisure.

The lower lounge is home to the kitchen and dining area which has a large table with eight high-backed chairs, offering garden and pool views, a perfect setting for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Culture and Religion are the base of the Balinese life. This contemporary Asian-influenced villa provides an open-air lodging from which to escape the bustle of downtown and retire into one’s own private world. A traditional village of Banjar Padang and paddy fields are framing the access ways to Villa Baliku.

The villa was carefully designed in minimalist modern, accented with touches of Balinese elements and selective usage of natural materials. Two semi-separate buildings constitute the main living areas of the villa, separated by an open lawn and swimming pool, and natural Palimanan tiled walkways.

The main building consists of a living area, dining area for 6 people and a kitchen. The living area is adjoining with the master bedroom with a large private en-suite bathroom. The design is dedicated to have true tropical living experience, maximizing enjoyment of soothing breeze against the burning sun.

A cute dining terrace is located to the far left of the structure, allows the guest to have an easy and nice breakfast by the pool. The second bedroom and third bedroom, each one with large en-suite bathroom, are situated in the second building. All the bedrooms features queen-sized bed, are airconditioned,and can be opened up by sliding glass doors if fresh air is desired.

In addition to dedicated housekeeping, maintenance, and security, the price you pay also includes chill towel and welcome drink upon arrival, continental breakfast and daily in-house laundry. Outside the gate are private parking area for three cars and security station.
