The Villas
Villa Dewi Sri presents four air-conditioned bedrooms, complete with en-suite bathrooms, a sizeable living and dining room open to the garden, an air-conditioned family room, and a fully-equipped kitchen.

This two-storey holiday villa in Bali showcases contemporary Balinese architecture complemented by a large garden with a flat lawn and 17 x 5 meter swimming pool. The villa is linked to the neighboring property by an interconnecting, lockable, garden door. The two properties can therefore accommodate a large group with a total of nine bedrooms. Guests enter the villa via stepping stones over a lily pond and through a long entrance hallway, which exudes space and light due to the clear pergola roof.

ACCOMMODATION

The Bedrooms
There are four air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Dewi Sri. The Zen Bedroom is located downstairs presenting a beige and red theme. It is furnished with a king size bed, an upholstered sofa, a thick pile rug, an ottoman, a lazy chair and a desk, as well as reading lamps and standard lamps and bedside tables. This spacious room features a padded wall behind the bed head, a recycled teakwood floor, and a ceiling fan as well as the air-conditioning. It is accessed either from the main garden or from the pool area by sliding glass doors. There is a dressing area behind the bed with built in wardrobes, lots of storage space, and a huge mirror. A sliding door leads into a glass-walled air-conditioned bathroom, which opens into a private, Zen inspired garden. Here, a large bathtub rests besides sliding glass doors. The bathroom is also fitted with twin washbasins upon a black marble vanity, a toilet and a glass sided, walk-in shower. The picture is completed with Romanesque pillars and a huge wall mirror.

The Tropical Bedroom is similar to the Zen Bedroom with just one set of sliding doors, which lead to the main garden and pool area. There is a padded window seat, which doubles as spare bed for a child, and hanging lanterns beside the bed. A door leads into an air-conditioned dressing room, from which a set of old traditional Balinese double doors open into an open-air garden bathroom, complete with non slip floor, and a bathtub protected from elements by an overhanging roof. There is a washbasin at both ends, and a toilet behind a glass door. The tropical garden is planted with shrubs, parlor palms and yellow bamboo. There is a terrace in front of both of these two bedrooms overlooking the garden and furnished with all-weather rattan chairs and a table.

The two upstairs bedrooms are accessed from a large, cool and breezy balcony terrace, with great views. The balcony is furnished with an antique game table and stools. Both of the upstairs bedrooms are furnished with twin beds that can be converted to queen size beds. Each features a polished concrete floor, sliding glass doors, a window seat, tables and reading lamps. The adjoining dressing rooms are open to the en-suite bathrooms, and from here glass doors open onto private, roof top terraces bordered by frangipani trees and palms, and furnished with sun loungers. Each upstairs bathroom has a cream terrazzo floor, a rain shower, a toilet and a single washbasin.

Living and Dining
Running the length of the garden beside the swimming pool, the living & dining pavilion is open to the pool deck on two sides and partially open to a water cascade on one side. Fan cooled, it features a polished concrete floor, and is hugely spacious, with an open plan modern kitchen at one end, complete with a service bar with three stools. The dining area is positioned adjacent to the kitchen with a solid teakwood table that seats 12 guests with a bench seat on both sides, and comfortable upholstered chairs at either end. The living area is furnished with three deeply cushioned sofas and an ottoman, and six segmented coffee table blocks fashioned from solid polished suar wood. This is a great space for parties. The walls are adorned with artwork and complemented by sculptures, as well as a big screen for playing Wii, and a music system with 4 speakers. The roof of the pavilion is planted with long grass, which blends with the environment and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The fully equipped kitchen is open on two sides and follows a cream and chocolate theme, with an oven and four hobs, a two-door fridge, and brown marble work surfaces. A guest wash room is positioned just off the living pavilion.

Family Room
The cozy, air-conditioned, family room is located upstairs and is fitted with a big screen; surround sound, home theatre, incorporating a DVD player, and a 49″ satellite channel TV. The room is furnished with a huge L-shaped segmented sofa with colorful padded covers. This room also doubles as a sleep area for kids, and is well equipped with games, books and movies.

Facilities
Facilities include a parking area, WIFI internet connection, a computer in the manager’s office and a safe deposit box in each room.

Garden and Pool
At the far end of the living pavilion is a pergola shaded deck with sun loungers and a sofa and daybed, complete with a living coconut palm growing through the roof of the pergola. This is a great spot for a massage. The eye is drawn to the length of the pavilion, the pool and the garden to the rice field and the irrigation canal bordered by a line of palms against the backdrop of a lovely rural view. The swimming pool is 17 x 5 meters in length and ranges from 1.10 to 1.40 meters in depth. It is lined with mixed green java stone, and there are Jacuzzi jets at one end of the bench where it gets wider, which are good for a back massage. There is also an outdoor pool shower, a long flat lawn of velvety grass, three frangipani trees, and another pool deck at the top end, furnished with loungers and an umbrella.

Food and Beverage
Villa Dewi Sri’s top class chef can prepare anything from snacks up to five-course dinners, or other requests as required. A full international menu is available. Breakfast is complimentary, while the full lunch and dinner service is a dining delight where guests can enjoy all manner of cuisine in a relaxing environment.

Staff
Villa Dewi Sri is supported by a carefully selected team of highly trained, friendly staff who will do their best to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. The team is headed by a villa manager who will oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and is available to assist guests during their stay. The team also includes an in-house chef, butlers, housekeepers, gardeners, pool attendants and security guards operating on a 24-hour shift basis. The chef is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. The housekeepers fulfill all of the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Baby-sitting and spa services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available at an additional charge.

Villa Dewi Sri is located within the beautiful agricultural belt between Kuta and Tanah Lot, an area that is home to some of the most luxurious private residences on the island. The Villas
Villa Sarasvati comprises two distinct areas that can be rented independently if required, featuring separate entrances as well as a shared entrance, both heralded by carved stone murals introducing Sarasvati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, wisdom and the arts, after which the villa takes its name.

On one side is the main villa, comprising a stand-alone multipurpose studio room, a long entrance hall, four bedrooms, a living & dining pavilion with a feature kitchen, an air-conditioned TV lounge, a pergola garden room, flat lawn and 18×5-meter lap pool.

The contemporary tropical architecture utilizes local materials including Palimanan stone walls, marble, and recycled wood, capped with ironwood shingle for the roof. The eclectic interiors ooze with style, visual texture and rich fabrics, following a stylish coffee and cream theme with modern teakwood and rattan furnishings, eye-catching framed photographs taken by the owner, and a unique collection of Taiwanese antiques and artifacts.

The second area, incorporating a one-bedroom suite known as the ‘master suite’, is located alongside the main villa but is hidden from view. It is a complete contrast to the modern architecture, featuring a series of antique wooden buildings from Java set within an exceptional rambling garden.

ACCOMMODATION

The Bedrooms
The master suite is an antique, wooden Javanese house, private and separate from the main villa and set within a romantic water garden. This gorgeous old house is a traditional high-peaked teakwood building, representing a bygone era. It was disassembled and transported from a small town in central Java, famous for its intricately carved woodwork.

The house is entered via a set of wooden steps, and the raised verandah at the front is a great place to sit and relax, overlooking the beautiful garden. At night this porch is romantically lit by glass globe lanterns. Inside is an air-conditioned bedroom, with the alternative facility of a ceiling fan. The room is stunningly furnished with a king-size bed and an antique wardrobe, complemented by comfortable soft furnishings, and equipped with a satellite channel TV and DVD player. The rustic en-suite bathroom is semi open air, sheltered by a pergola roof and extending out into a private, walled garden. It is equipped with a hollowed out, river rock bathtub for two, a walk-in rain shower, toilet, twin washbasins and a non slip floor. There is also a rain shower, open to the sky, in the garden.

The other four air-conditioned bedrooms, complete with their en-suite bathrooms, are arranged on two levels in the main two-storey building, which presides over the lap pool and one half of the extensive gardens. The bedrooms on ground level open onto an elevated terrace with three wide steps that lead down to the pool deck. There is also a ramp, which makes it easy for wheelchair users. Both the ground floor bedrooms have recycled wood floors, while the upstairs bedrooms have cool polished concrete floors. The upstairs bedrooms, as well as the central communal TV room, open onto a broad balcony with fabulous views over the meandering gardens, pool and rice fields.

The master bedroom is on ground level of the main building, entered via an anteroom with shelves and alcoves filled with books, a Buddha statue and antique artifacts from Taiwan. Long curtains divide the sleeping area from the anteroom and the huge dressing room, which is fitted with abundant hanging and storage space as well as a make-up table with a large wall mirror. The en-suite indoor/outdoor master bathroom is accessed by sliding glass doors from both the bedroom and the dressing room. The indoor area is fitted with polished black granite twin vanities with washbasins, as well as a toilet and a rain shower in separate cubicles – both with two sets of glass doors providing access to the indoor and outdoor areas. The piece de resistance is the freestanding terrazzo bathtub for two, positioned within a glass walled area all to itself, with doors that can be slid open to the private garden for a semi-alfresco bathing experience. There is also a rain shower in the spacious shrub-filled garden, open to the sky and very private.

Each bedroom, including the master, has a built in cushioned daybed along one wall, a four poster, king size bed hung with diaphanous cream chiffon drapes, teak furnishings, a shag pile floor rug, a TV/DVD player, and a dressing area.

Each en-suite bathroom is fitted with twin washbasins, toilet, walk-in rain shower and bathtub. The downstairs guestroom has a semi open air bathroom bordered by an ornamental pond with ornate Ganesha statues spouting running water. The two upstairs bathrooms are characterized by open air rooftop terraces, each with a romantic outdoor bathtub resting under a pergola.

Living and Dining
The single-storey living & dining pavilion features creamy white Palimanan stone walls and a polished concrete floor under a soaring roof. This long room runs the length of the pool with sliding glass doors that open onto the pool deck on one side and a lily pond with stone carvings and water features on the other. When these doors are open, the room is cooled by natural cross ventilation and ceiling fans, or alternatively the doors can be closed for air-conditioned comfort. At one end of the pavilion is an open-plan feature kitchen linked to the dining area by a wide, marble service bar. The splendid dining table seats 14, with bench stools and a grand cane planter chair at either end. Five giant, clear glass bell-jar lanterns hang over the table and the room is lovingly adorned with a collection of antique wooden artifacts including a pair of ornate panels from a Torajan house. There is also a tactile wooden sculpture that pivots on its stand to form a screen between the dining and living spaces. The living area is furnished with two cane sofas and armchairs with deep, comfortable cushions, together with a glass topped coffee table, a shag pile floor rug, lamps and more wooden artifacts. The ambience is enhanced by the sound of running water from the spouting statues that feed the lily pond outside.

At the far end of the living & dining pavilion, overlooking the rice field, is an open air sitting room with a slatted pergola roof supported by wooden pillars. The floor is composed of recycled ironwood decking, which extends around two sides of the pool, while flowering thunbergia cascades from the clear roof – designed to let in the light. This enchanting, sunny room flows into the living pavilion, yet can be a separate area when the sliding glass doors are closed. It is furnished with a large sofa and coffee table, as well as a smaller glass topped table with three planter chairs.

TV Lounge
The cozy TV lounge is positioned on the upper floor between the two upstairs bedrooms. Two long upholstered sofas hug the Palimanan stone walls, along with a two-toned suar wood coffee table and a rug under a pitched roof. The room is equipped with both air-conditioning and ceiling fans, and a large flat screen satellite channel TV and DVD player with surround sound.

FACILITIES

Kitchen
Villa Sarasvati’s immaculate, designer kitchen is crafted in creamy marble, with pots and pans hanging from the ceiling above a central island. This feature kitchen is conveniently positioned next to the dining area, and is fully equipped with an imported oven and hob, a large two-door refrigerator, a temperature controlled wine cellar, and everything else that the chef needs in order to prepare delicious meals, in accordance with the whims of his guests.

Studio
The multipurpose studio is an expansive, self contained, single-storey building located just inside the entrance to the villa. This room can be used for a number of purposes and, due to its size, is ideally suited for functions and parties.

Spa
Conceived in perfect harmony with the peaceful surroundings, spa treatments at Sarasvati take place in the privacy of the antique timber spa building, which presents two massage beds, washroom and outdoor rain shower. Combining beauty and well-being, traditional treatments such as mandi lulur, Balinese massage or reflexology, administered by skilled therapists, will make guests feel reborn, awakening the mind, body and soul.

Gardens and Pools
The main swimming pool is an 18×5 meters lap pool bordered by a timber deck that extends around two sides, complete with sun loungers and umbrellas. A flat lawn runs between the pool and the garden wall, bordered with palms and giant taro leaves and a pair of Ganesha statues. This is also the location of a pool shower. A door in the wall links the property to Villa Dewi Sri for those occasions when both villas are rented jointly by one group of guests.

The second alluring swimming pool is freeform and located beside the spa within the gorgeous rambling gardens. Punctuated with frangipanis and palms, these poetic gardens are woven together with timber walkways, pathways and lotus ponds, and concealed by taro, umbrella ferns, pandanus, travelers palms, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, and plenty more. Further explorations will reveal hidden lanterns, hand-carved statues, a giant chess set, an antique elevated relaxation gazebo, and a ‘pondok’, which is a traditional shelter for farmers working in the rice fields. Finally, a professionally-sized Petanque court (a game similar to boules) completes the picture. This is the very essence of a romantic ‘hide-and-seek’ garden.

The five bedroom villa, surrounded on two sides by rice fields, provides a wide choice of areas for dining and entertaining. Balconies and verandas have been positioned to maximize the panoramic views and the cooling tropical breezes.

Living & Dining
Welcoming guests with its generous size and openness, the living room offers a sweeping view of the pool, gardens and adjacent rice fields. Cooled by ceiling fans and natural ventilation, the room is furnished with cream leather sofas, chairs and bar stools. The centerpiece is an impressive iron chandelier designed by the owners. There is a polished granite party bar with fridge and sink, and a round table with chairs for intimate dining.

A stairway leads down to the dining room, located on ground level next to the pool terrace. The room is furnished with a three meter long table which seats ten. Folding glass doors offer guests cool alfresco dining and the ambience is enhanced by water sounds emanating from adjacent ornamental ponds, water spouts and bubbling urns.

Kitchen and Media Room
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything the chef needs to prepare delicious meals in accordance with the requests of each guest. A wet kitchen and a laundry room are both tucked away at the back, along with the staff entrance.

The air-conditioned media room is equipped with a 32-inch LCD flat screen TV, DVD player and sound system. This comfortable room is furnished with two deeply-cushioned sofas, traditional batik cushions, a games table with Plexiglas chairs, and an innovative glass topped coffee table created by hand from coffee-wood branches.

ACCOMMODATION

Master Suite
The Master Suite is accessed by an elevated covered walkway. A sliding door opens to reveal the air-conditioned office/living room, complete with antique desk, chairs and original artwork on the walls.

The Master Bedroom shows a splendid king-size, canopied bed, dressed in white linens and mosquito netting. The views from this room and balcony are breathtaking. The balcony is furnished with a cushioned day bed, rattan armchairs and a dining table for a private breakfast or lunch. This is also a wonderful spot for sunset cocktails.

The en-suite air-conditioned bathroom boasts a cream-colored marble floor, an abundance of wall mirrors, and an oval-shaped terrazzo bathtub for two and twin marble washbasins. A toilet cubicle and a separate shower are each entered via frosted glass doors. There is a large closet and dressing area with built-in wardrobes, drawers and plenty of storage space. A safe deposit box and mini-bar fridge can be found in the dressing area.

Guests Suite
This generous bedroom is furnished with antiques and artwork, an Oriental rug and a king-size, four-poster steel bed. The bed has elaborate white mosquito netting which allows guests to sleep with the folding glass doors open to the rice field views, or to choose the option of air-conditioning.

The Guest Suite is equipped with a safe deposit box and a mini-bar fridge. A beautiful old cabinet holds a TV and DVD player. The dressing area and en-suite bathroom follow the same layout and have the same amenities as the Master Suite. The wide wrap around white Palimanan stone terrace is furnished with an antique carved Timorese table and chairs for private dining, or just relaxing and viewing the rice fields.

Guest House
The free standing Guest House is located on the far side of the living and dining pavilion on ground level. The furnishings include a queen size, four-poster bed fashioned from carved teak, with exquisite white linens and mosquito netting; an antique cabinet housing a TV and DVD player and a writing table and chairs.

The air-conditioned bathroom has a marble floor and a dressing area with fitted wardrobes, huge mirrors, and louvered doors which hide a safe deposit box and mini bar fridge. Double marble topped vanity units support large glass washbowls with teak cupboards and shelves. The toilet cubicle and separate shower are each located behind frosted glass doors.

Glass doors lead to an open air bathroom romantically lit by unique wall lamps. An oversize bathtub is sheltered under the roof eaves, and there is an outdoor rain shower for moonlit bathing.

Villa Avalon Ground
The 16 x 3 meter, blue slate tiled swimming pool has a waterfall at one end, two infinity edges, and is anchored by a Pendopo, used as a Relaxation Pavilion. This ancient structure is the core of a 150-year old wooden Joglo house from Java. Furnished with a rustic table, a deeply cushioned rattan sofa and chairs, this raised pavilion, with its antique terracotta tiled floor is another delightful area for dining, entertaining and relaxing. There is a granite topped bar for serving at the back of the structure. The white Palimanan stone pool terrace is shaded by sweet-scented white frangipani trees; there are four sun beds and two umbrellas.

The expansive gardens are dotted with palm trees and white-flowering shrubs and trees. Open to the rice fields on one side with a view unbroken by walls or fences, the property expands its borders.

Water is a predominant element in the spiritual landscape of Bali. This is reflected throughout the property, but especially in the enchanting water garden between the bedroom pavilion and the living/dining pavilion. The pond features white lotus and bulrushes, and is planted with white orchids and a frangipani tree on an island. Two serene Buddha statues sit in stone caves against a backdrop of flowing water to complete this beautiful water feature.

The Villas

Designed in partnership with internationally renowned architect Glenn Parker, Villa Bendega Villas respects the style, proportion and symmetry of traditional Balinese architecture within a modern tropical design. Surrounded by terraced rice fields and only five minutes’ walk from the beach, Villa Bendega Villas (meaning ‘fisherman’ in the local language) borders a small fishing village of the same name in the district of Canggu, southwest Bali. TOUR THE VILLA

Orientation
Villa Bendega Villas has been carefully designed to maximize its 3,500m2 of land amidst the rice terraces of Canggu. The villa’s six buildings form a rough ‘H’ shape, with the main living and sleeping accommodation spread across the two-storey horizontal bar of the ‘H’, and one of the three master bedrooms, the pool pavilion, the gym and the staff quarters forming the four ‘prongs’. This pleasing symmetry is carried through to many elements within the villa, including the 11m2 swimming pool which lies between the pool pavilion and a master bedroom pavilion.

Entry
The villa is entered via gates which slide open to reveal a 2m-high black-stone Buddha head serenely welcoming visitors to the property. The entry courtyard provides ample room for parking and is dotted with frangipani, oil palms, jasmine, yuccas and African tulip trees. Guests walk over sandstone steps across a large koi-filled pond to the main entrance doors.

Sitting room
Two sets of tall sliding doors at the entrance to the main building open to reveal a spectacular open-air, double-height sitting room which faces the garden and pool, and overlooks the rice fields beyond. This space, which seats 12, is furnished with two oversized black teak sofas and armchairs set around matching coffee tables. The black upholstery is brought to life with vibrant contrasting green and orange cushions. Along the back wall of the sitting room, an ancient canoe has been topped with glass and transformed into a 6m-long table; a stunning centerpiece for a buffet dinner. Above the canoe, 10 antique carved wooden panels are framed against the golden sandstone walls.

A galleried timber walkway runs above the sitting area and then ducks back to the upstairs of the bedrooms, providing another opportunity to enjoy the views.

Dining room and Kitchen
To the right of the sitting room, glass sliding doors lead into the formal, wooden-floored, dining room, displaying a massive 5m-long solid Marbau dining table which will seat up to 20 people. More sliding glass doors open onto the garden at the front, while a large mirror is set in an antique door frame at the far end of the room. A charming old green glass-fronted cabinet houses glassware and crockery next to a door which leads through to the kitchen.

The kitchen at Villa Bendega Villas reflects the owners’ love of cooking. The fully-fitted, air-conditioned, modern kitchen has dark wood cabinets and cream-colored Corian work tops. The chef’s biggest delight is the range of equipment – including an extra large oven, a Jura Impressa coffee machine, waffle-maker, Cuisinart panini toaster, ice cream maker and dishwasher, to name but a few. The kitchen is also equipped with two large fridges, a freezer and wine fridge in the pantry.

Library
On the other side of the open-air sitting room is the comfortable library and adjoining games room. A set of floor-to-ceiling shelves contain numerous books on Bali and Indonesia as well as more popular holiday reading. The library has a 50-inch flat-screen television with DVD player and more than 50 international satellite channels. An L-shaped sofa and two floral printed chairs offer plenty of comfort in front of the TV.

Games room
The games room is surrounded by glass and can be opened up on three sides to the gardens if desired. A high, round table and bar stools plus two easy chairs provide seating for spectators. While the full-sized pool table is the centre of attention, there is a wide selection of games, for those less adept with the cue.

Across from the library and games room is a delightful guest washroom. Finished in warm Indian Sandstone, and furnished with a very beautiful antique cabinet featuring colorfully painted Indonesian characters, this washroom opens into a small walled garden planted with frangipani trees and decorated with carved stone panels and pedestals.

Pool and Pool Pavilion
Across the lawn, directly opposite the living room, the 11m x 11m stone-tiled infinity-edged swimming pool overlooks the rice fields. As well as being large enough for some serious swimming, the pool is perfectly positioned for sunset cocktails, which can be enjoyed from the wide stone ’shelves’ set into the pool at just the right depth. To the right of the pool a large open-sided pavilion is home to a huge L-shaped daybed, upholstered in waterproof orange Sunbrella fabric and scattered with bright, sunny cushions; and you can roll straight into the pool from the matching beanbags at the edge of the pool deck.

The round table and chairs at the centre of the pool pavilion will seat up to 10 people for casual outdoor dining. This is a great place to congregate at the start of the day for a ‘come-as-you-please’ breakfast. Behind a sliding louvered door at one side of the pool pavilion is a water cooler, bar fridge and sink. Around the corner a door leads into a guest changing room with toilet and shower.

Garden Bale
To the far side of the lawn, perched over another koi pond that leads to one of the bedrooms, is a peaceful relaxation bale furnished with a comfortable daybed, floor cushions and two petrified-wood stools.

Gym and Massage Room
To the right of the entry courtyard, a stepping-stone pathway leads across the lawn to the gym and massage room, housed in its own private pavilion. This room is divided by a folding carved wood screen, with a massage bed on one side and an exercise bike and treadmill on the other. While they exercise, gym users have the option to watch TV or listen to music, which can be programmed specifically for this room. Although surrounded by glass on three sides, the gym and massage room is fitted with blinds which can be pulled down for privacy and the room can be fan-cooled or air conditioned.

Tucked away behind the gym is an outdoor bathroom with toilet, rain shower and, the piece de resistance, a huge bathtub carved from a single piece of black granite, reached by stepping stones over a tranquil pond. The walled garden surrounding the tub is planted with frangipani and palms and a Flame of the Forest tree – a sublime place to relieve those aching muscles after a good work-out.

Bedrooms
Every bedroom at Villa Bendega Villas has lovely open views across the greener-than-green rice fields of Canggu. The villa can accommodate eight people in three king-bedded rooms and one twin bedroom (which can convert into a fourth king-bedded room). There is capacity to add two more fold-away beds for children if required. All bedrooms are generously sized, tastefully furnished, and have en-suite bathrooms and outdoor balconies.

Master Bedroom – Ground Floor – Purple Room
Accessed by stepping stones across a garden pond, the first master bedroom is housed in its own pavilion at the front of the gardens, directly overlooking the rice fields. This room is private, peaceful and perfectly placed. A canopied, four-poster, king-size bed is the focus of the room, facing a private terrace and the rice fields beyond. Behind the bed is a large, walk-through, mirrored dressing area with enough wardrobe space for even the most extended of stays. The room is furnished with antique console tables, bedside cabinets and an easy chair upholstered in ikat fabric, custom-printed to match the other purple accessories in the room. A door at the side of the bedroom leads out to the pool and gardens.

The en-suite bathroom is vast. At one end, again overlooking the rice fields is a sunken double bathtub. Two wash basins are set in Travertine vanity tops running along the side of the bathroom while, at the far end, a large walk-in shower offers both rain shower and hand shower fittings.

Master Bedroom – Upstairs – The Orange Room
This bedroom is positioned at the far right of the upper floor in the main building directly above the dining room. Accessed by a private walkway, a centrally placed, canopied, four-poster king-size bed looks out onto a private terrace with daybed which, in turn, overlooks the gardens, pool and rice fields. To the right of the bed is an antique yellow and green painted Javanese cupboard, on top of which are two painted wooden cockerels.

Directly behind the bed, the dressing area leads through to another large en-suite bathroom presenting similar fittings to those in all the master bedrooms, but this time the super-size bathtub overlooks the gardens of the villa. Adjoining the bedroom is a study equipped with a laptop computer and printer.

Master Bedroom – Upstairs – The Green Room
At the opposite end of the upper floor another king-bedded master bedroom awaits. The large bathroom also has a separate shower and a large bathtub with views of the ocean. The room is furnished with teak console tables, bedside cabinets and an easy chair upholstered in ikat fabric, custom-printed to match the other green accessories in the room. A canopied king-size four-poster bed looks out over a full ‘wall’ of sliding glass doors that lead out onto a balcony furnished with a colorful daybed which is shared with the twin room next door.

Twin Room – Upstairs – Turquoise Room
Villa Bendega Villas has been designed with families in mind and this twin-bedded room, with its turquoise accessories is ideal for children (the beds can be easily converted to a king size if preferred). This bedroom also features a 37-inch flat screen TV. Fitted wardrobes and shelving, an antique console, an easy chair and bedside tables complete the furnishings. The en-suite bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower and double wash basins.

VILLA FACILITIES

Audio Visual
A Sonos digital music system, with several thousand play tracks sorted into a wide variety of genres, can be controlled remotely from anywhere within the villa. Different tracks or playlists can be played in the pool pavilion, dining room, sitting room, library and games room or gym. IPods can also be connected to the Sonos system and iPod docks and speakers are provided in all the bedrooms.
The library has a 50-inch, wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player with more than 50 satellite channels. Two additional flat-screen TVs can be found in the gym and the twin bedroom.

Communications
Phones are situated in all bedrooms and living areas at Villa Bendega Villas. An in-house phone system allows guests to make calls to other areas of the villa, including to the manager’s office or kitchen. All phones can make IDD calls which are charged at cost.

A laptop computer and printer are available to guests in the study and a further printer and facsimile machine can be found in the villa manager’s office.

Wi-Fi internet facilities are available throughout the villa and gardens should guests wish to use their own laptops.

An open dialogue will keep both chef and guests happy! Please discuss meals in advance (ideally 24 hours) to allow the chef the time he needs to prepare the provision. Daily breakfast is included in the villa rate.

Once selections are made, guests can relax and enjoy delicious home-cooked food – Asian and Western – prepared where and when they like. The chef loves to delight villa guests with his beautifully presented dishes – from roasted vegetable salads, to Balinese chicken curry, to nasi goreng (friend rice), to steak and chips. His desserts are not to be missed either – or his home-made jams and chutneys. He is happy to try out new dishes and willing to share his kitchen with guests – especially if they can show him how to prepare their favorite dishes.

Villa Mana is entered via a bridge over a shallow pool fed by a water cascade and lined with black candi stone. As well as being an architectural feature of the villa, this also makes for a wonderful children’s paddling pool. To the left of the entrance pool is a flat grass lawn dotted with palms and furnished with sun loungers.

Living & Dining areas
The entrance bridge leads into the reception area, open-air living and dining areas and pool deck. From here, guests’ eyes will be drawn to the highlight of Villa Mana; the amazing view of Bali’s famous rice terraces and, in the evenings, magical sunsets. This beautiful vista is framed by the architecture of the building and reflected in the swimming pool. The main dining area has a large wooden table that can seat 12, and to one side of this is the main sitting area, wired for sound with a Bose CD player and comfortably furnished with deeply cushioned sofas and a coffee table. To the front is a more casual seating area that segues into the timber pool deck area spanning the expanse of the villa.

Ensuite Bedrooms
To the left of the living and dining area are the three principle ensuite bedrooms, all of which are air-conditioned. The downstairs master bedroom faces the rice terraces and features floor-to-ceiling glass doors that can be fully opened. The room is furnished with a king bed, and there is a dressing area to one side, a mirrored wall and leather-clad wardrobes. A kilim floor rug adds a splash of colour. The expansive, elongated bathroom has a skylight roof and is partially open at one end, allowing the cool breezes to permeate. It is fitted with a circular concrete bathtub, double washbasins and a pendulous rainshower that hangs above the tub. Outside of the glass doors on the deck to the pool area is a semi-private round daybed for reading and general relaxation. The other two en-suite bedrooms face the flat lawn and again the glass doors can be fully opened. Both bedrooms have king beds, built in wardrobes and desks. The bathrooms are similar to the downstairs master bathroom.

Kitchen
To the right of the living room is an open plan kitchen, a chef’s dream in black, separated from the living area by a floor-to-ceiling river rock wall. The kitchen has state-of-the-art cooking facilities including an imported oven and five-burner hob. It is fitted with a central island, a black mirrored splashback and black cabinets; even the refrigerator is black! Guests are welcome to cook at any time together with the chef or on their own.

Swimming Pool
Behind the kitchen and bordering the pool is a casual dining table with long bench seats accommodating up to 12. There is also a casual sitting area here furnished with a sofa and two chairs. The polished black concrete floor extends to the timber pool deck, which is furnished with all-weather rattan sunbeds and sofa-style daybeds, and dappled by five beautiful century-old white flowering frangipani trees. The 18 x 7 metre pool is designed in the style of Japanese onsen baths with four infinity edges over which the water appears to cascade into the breathtaking rice field view beyond. At one end of the pool is a ‘bale’ covered seating area and behind this is an additional open-air bathroom with outdoor shower. On the far side of the pool is a broad wooden staircase flanked by a pair of coconut palms, descending to a lower level. This is a great entrance for a wedding. The steps can be used as seats forming an amphitheatre, leading onto a huge flat lawn the size of a football pitch, bordered by flowering shrubs and trees and open to the rice terrace vista. The property is surrounded on three sides by natural river stone buttress walls that rise up to six metres. A decked walkway across the front of the villa leads to a secret spot, a huge half moon daybed, shaded by an ancient frangipani tree with red blossoms.

Entertainment Room
Further down, beyond the kitchen and approached by a narrow high passageway with black timber walls, is an enormous air-conditioned entertainment room / children’s playroom furnished with a massive sofa, armchairs and a lazy chair, and equipped with a 2.3 x 1.2 metre satellite projection screen TV/ DVD player, Fu&ball (table football), and shelves brimming with films, books, toys and games.

Children’s & Master Bedrooms
Opposite the entertainment room is an air-conditioned children’s bedroom with twin beds and a trundle bed. Next to this is an air-conditioned office with a glass topped writing desk, and a queen bed on a mezzanine platform above. Both of these rooms share a large bathroom. Here, a square polished concrete bathtub with a rainshower is flanked by a pandanus tree that reaches up towards a semi-open glass roof.

There are more surprises to come… The rooftop of Villa Mana supports two more master bedrooms, a TV room / study, and an abundance of open-air space for lounging, dining, reclining and relishing the extraordinary 180 views over the rice fields to the sea and the distant mountains. Sunsets from this lofty perch are awesome! The breezy roof terrace presents an open-air sitting area with a huge cushioned built-in daybed under a pergola roof. The concrete deck is also furnished with a number of daybeds and umbrellas, and a wooden outdoor table for 12, which is perfect for sunset cocktails. The two air-conditioned master bedrooms feature walls of glass and Chinese-styled sliding doors. Both rooms are furnished with king size beds crafted in leather, huge mirrors and black lamps. Each bedroom also showcases a padded screen wall cloaked in black and gold silk, and a chair in the same fabric. Each huge ensuite bathroom incorporates a dressing area with mirror-fronted wardrobes, a central polished concrete vanity unit with sunken sculptured washbasins, a walk-in rainshower with timber decking underfoot, and a deep Japanese wooden bathtub for two, fashioned in suar wood. The toilet in each bathroom is situated in a large cubicle hidden by soft white drapes. The air-conditioned TV room / study is furnished with a black leather sofa and ottoman, and a glass topped desk with a chair and a reading lamp. This spacious room is also equipped with a large flat screen TV and DVD player.

Location
Villa Mana is hidden away in the traditional village of Babakan, just ten minutes’ drive from the beach at Canggu on Bali’s southwest coast. Villa Anyar
The largest villa on the estate has beautiful mature gardens, a large pool with a spacious deck and bale, indoor and outdoor entertaining areas and four stylish, light-filled bedrooms. The luxury Bali villa is laid out on three floors. On the ground floor a self-contained kitchen, one king-size bedroom, a living area and an elegant garden bathroom can be enclosed to create a private apartment. This leads out through folding glass doors to a terrace that wraps around the house and features a barbecue area and a pool table.

Upstairs another large terrace offers fantastic views of the surrounding rice fields, the garden and pool. The outdoor dining area leads from an open kitchen where a cook offers full time catering or guests can enjoy preparing their own meals. A spacious lounge area surrounded by folding glass doors can be left open to the fresh breezes or closed to enjoy air-conditioned comfort. Choose from a large library of movies and watch on the flat screen TV, sinking into deeply cushioned sofas.

Accommodation
Villa Bangkuang is comprised of a main two-storey main building, an open-sided lounging and dining pavilion, and a separate two-bedroom guest pavilion. The style is calming, with a fresh cool decor; the modern fittings, fixtures and clean crisp design is harmonised with antique artifacts.

Flanked by ornamental ponds and guarded by a pair of griffin fountain-statues, the living pavilion overlooks the pool and is shaded from both the morning and afternoon sun. It is tastefully furnished with a dining table and chairs, seagrass sofas and ottomans. The comfort of the guests is ensured by yielding cushions and paddle ceiling fans. A hidden office-styled library is fitted with shelves and a desk. A compact, well-stocked bar and fully equipped, homely kitchen with glassless windows provides all the necessary dining and entertainment amenities.

There are four spacious air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Bangkuang, each with an en-suite bathroom, a DVD player and a safe deposit box. The master suite, complete with full-length balcony, covers the whole of the upper floor, overlooking the garden and rice fields stretching infinitely towards the ocean. Characterised by a polished parquet floor and a soaring roof, the romantic bedroom is furnished with a king-size, four-poster bed swathed in snowy netting. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows slide open on three sides, presenting guests with the choice of air-conditioned comfort or a semi-alfresco sleeping experience, cooled by a ceiling fan and lulled by the distant sound of the waves. The room is equipped with a satellite channel TV and DVD player, and the large adjoining dressing area is fitted with wardrobes and storage space. Villa Facilities
The guest pavilion is situated some distance from the main pavilion and pool, affording significant privacy. Two self-contained bedrooms, with king-size beds and open-air en-suite bathrooms, can accommodate four adults. Timber walls, window seats, lazy chairs and cushions create a cosy, chalet-like mood; glass doors open to a shared verandah, which literally overhangs the gently swaying fields of rice. Fly screens ensure bug-free nights, while the gorgeous bathrooms feature dreamy tubs, pebbled floors and rainshowers that are open to the sky.

The garden complements the native vegetation behind the pavilions and the dazzling rice fields to the front with a smooth, manicured lawn, where the 17 x 5 metre swimming pool appears to overflow into infinity. Sunloungers and shady umbrellas, together with an indulgent poolside bar, make this a very relaxing area in which to hang out. An old rudder from a traditional jukung fishing boat makes an interesting sculpture, while a flowering shrub adds a striking splash of colour. The coconut grove garden, dotted with frangipani blossoms, extends to a narrow brook, traversed by a wooden bridge, which separates the guest pavilion from the common area. A shaded platform, known as a ‘bale’ and used for lounging and chatting in a Balinese village, is here raised to new heights-treetop level, in fact. This elevated, thatched pavilion is open to cooling tropical breezes on the hottest of days, and affords a sweeping vista of the rice fields, mountains, and sea. In another corner of the garden a traditional ‘jineng’ rice barn presents the perfect spot for a pampering indulgent massage.

It is this abundance of space and natural beauty that makes Villa Bangkuang the perfect venue for weddings and small events; guests can spill out on to the smooth manicured lawns, which are also ideal for barbeques and Balinese cultural performances.

At night the villa takes on a different persona with cleverly arranged lighting softly illuminating the trees. Villa Services
Villa Bangkuang is supported by a cherished ‘family’ of friendly staff who fulfil their duties with enthusiasm and smiles. They are never intrusive, yet are always there to ensure that their guests experience a truly enjoyable stay in Bali. Their genuine enthusiasm, warmth, and service from the heart is charming, modest and unassuming.

The team is headed by a Kadek Santri, the villa manager. She is always on hand to oversee and coordinate the staff and property, and to assist guests during their stay. Mundri, the cook, is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. Iluh fulfils the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry. Wayan and Pak Agus are the night security guards. Their duties are to guard the villa to ensure your security and safety. Dewa is the gardener; he has looked after the gardens since the villa was first built. Finally, Komang is the pool attendant.

Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge. The team also includes an in-house concierge service; Kadek Edu, with her quiet efficiency and profound knowledge of the locale, is responsible for booking restaurants, organising tours, daytrips and ticketing. By getting to know this lovely group of people, guests will gain privileged insights into the traditions of rural Bali and the Balinese Hindu culture.

Location
Villa Bangkuang is located in Sogsogan, a charming seaside village surrounded by rice fields and set against the twin backdrops of misty volcanoes and pounding surf. Although only 25 minutes’ drive from the cosmopolitan glamour of Seminyak, Sosogan and the neighbouring Seseh village retain the customs and culture of old Bali. Cows are herded through the fields, rice is planted and harvested throughout year, and the sound of ritual music is carried on the breeze. The approach to Seseh is by way of a country lane; emerald rice fields line the road as it meanders through an avenue of coconut palms. Farmers in conical hats riding rusty old upright bicycles are a common sight-the bucolic daily life of the village has not been dented by tourism.

Furthermore, there are frequent, colourful processions to Seseh’s beachside Hindu temple. On special festival days, thousands of devout Hindus from neighbouring villages wearing ceremonial dress-the women carrying huge pyramids of fruit and flower offerings on their heads-converge on this important temple to perform cleansing rituals beside the ocean. On other occasions, the air is thick with the scent of burning incense and the clear metallic sound of the gamelan orchestra, as the white clad priests symbolically sever their connection with the everyday world and invite the gods to “come down and join us”.

Echo Beach at Canggu, which is bordered by a surfing reef and noted for a casual and lively beach-side dining scene, is a pleasant one-kilometre walk along the seashore. This is the place where the local community gathers in the evenings to watch the legendary sunsets. A variety of eating areas and tables spill out onto a beachside buff; there is a daily barbeque and live music on Sunday evenings.

The trendy Seminyak area, with its wide choice of international restaurants-including the famous ‘Ku De Ta’, ‘Kafe Warisan’, ‘Living Room’, ‘Hu’u', ‘La Lucciola’, ‘Sarong’ and Blossom-together with a plethora of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques, is 25 minutes’ drive away.

The location offers easy access up to the mountains and rice terraces on the western slopes of the island; it is 70 minutes’ drive from the famous cultural and artistic town of Ubud, and just 20 minutes’ drive from the Sunset Route, gateway to the eastern side of the island. It is also convenient for all of Bali’s shopping malls and main tourist attractions. The international airport is 45 minutes’ drive. The nearby ‘Nirwana Bali Golf Course’ was designed by Greg Norman, and was voted the number 1 golf course in Asia; it is situated beside the dramatic, waved-lashed sea temple of Tanah Lot.For horse lovers, the ‘Umalas Equestrian Centre’ is just a few kilometres away.

This large 3 bedroom villa situated on a 1300 sq m on the edge of rice terraces has been designed so that guests can enjoy the unsurpassed views from almost the entire villa. The stunning 18m x 7 meter split level living / dining area has been designed for relaxation and entertainment and provides optimum enjoyment of the unsurpassed Rice paddy and unforgettable Sunset views. This area with its high Alang-Alang traditional ceilings, the cool terracotta floor tiles and natural cream walls is the very essence of tropical living. Overhead, gun-metal coated Ceiling fans and the gentle breeze blowing in from the rice paddy ensure everyone is kept cool. Both the Master and Guest Bathroom have fabulous rice field views with large Glass and louvered sliding doors opening out to large balconies that allow guests to enjoy an early morning coffee watching the local villagers tend the rice fields or enjoy a quiet evening drink watching the fabulous red sunset over the west Coast. High Alang Alang ceilings and the cool and clean feel of the Traditional BenKiri floors have been used throughout the Master and Guest Bedrooms.

All Bedrooms have individual deluxe split air conditioning units. These two rooms have oversized king size Four poster beds and ample wardrobes and drawers for storage… The Bedroom interior has been very tastefully furnished with a balance of teak and modern rattan furniture and artifacts.

Next to the living area is the cooking area. The cooking experience is augmented by top of the line and modern equipment (cooker, microwave, blender, toaster, etc). From the kitchen the guests have access to the cozy dining area.

The air-conditioned bedroom is equipped with a king-sized bed. Shades guarantee an undisturbed rest even during daytime. The dressing room offers enough room to house your garderobe.

The marble bathroom is fitted with an egg-shaped bath, a separate shower and a toilet. A hairdryer, make-up mirror, cotton towels, etc are present.

On land of 1,200 m2, double N Villa specially designed by renowed balinese architect Komang Suardika from Jeghier Architect Firm, based in Bali and Malaysia, His special design across Bali and Overseas for Hotels, Resort, Private Villas and Development. Accessible through a private road, enter to the villa across a bridge over a clear fish pond, leading to the fabulous living space set on the lower level. Featuring a magnificent carving wall dividing the living and dining areas, this air conditioned space can be opened to the gardens with large folding doors. Features include a 42 inch TV plasma, a study room with play station screen and wireless internet access.

Connected by short steps crossing a further fish pond, there is a Balinese style bale (open air building) offering on the lower level an open dinning and seating area, right next to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, open bar and sundeck area. It is comprised of a series of thatched pavilions, housing a remarkable open Living Pavilion, an elevated Dining Pavilion, an Entertainment Room, two Kitchens and five Bedrooms, complete with an additional smaller room which can be used for a children or nanny’s bedroom.

The buildings are linked by pergola-covered walkways, achieving a unique sense of space within a natural setting. Maximising the spectacular views and the natural light, and catching the cool breezes even at the hottest time of year, the property offers a blend of air-conditioned comfort and tropical open-air living.

Entrance
Guests enter the estate via a spacious car parking area. An antique door then opens into a grand entrance pavilion complete with a carved Palimanan stone screen and a Balinese Hindu feature known as the ‘aling aling’, a short screen wall designed to protect the villa from troublesome and malign influences, because evil spirits have great difficulty in turning corners. Guests will then cross a timber bridge over a reflecting ornamental pool.

Living Pavilion
The magnificent Living Pavilion presides over the property. It is flanked by a terrace laid with grass-edged Palimanan paving stones, and overlooks the swimming pool, terraced gardens and rice fields. This open-sided pavilion is modelled upon the traditional Balinese ‘Wantilan’, or village meeting place, with a soaring, two-tiered roof supported by pillars, complete with pendulous lanterns and ceiling fans above a mint-white sandstone floor. The expansive space is furnished with two comfortable sofas, ottomans, a coffee table, a decorative, antique Javanese daybed, and a pair of white coconut shell chairs with a small matching table. The Living Pavilion is linked to the rest of the villa by a covered, colonnaded walkway with black and white chequered tiles. Off the walkway is situated a guest washroom decorated with Indian stone tiles and accessed by a colourful, antique Balinese door.

Dining Pavilion
The open-sided Dining Pavilion is elevated above a high buttresses composed of indigenous serai stone, portraying a geometric jigsaw of shapes. A long suar wood dining table seats up to 14 dinner guests. The pavilion is cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans and commands fabulous views of the bordering rice fields.

Kitchens
There are two fully equipped kitchens at Puri Bawana Estate servicing the villa, one is the service kitchen and the other is a state-of-the-art kitchen positioned next to the dining pavilion and linked by a large service bar. This immaculate, designer kitchen reveals a discriminating taste for functional beauty and cutting-edge style. Crafted in black marble with a central island, silver grey units and glassless shuttered windows, it is equipped with a hob, oven, wine fridge, coffee machine and other high tech appliances. There is even the provision of a sound system.

Kids’ Bedroom / Nanny’s Room
A staircase leads down under the Dining Pavilion to a small ’spill-over’ room, which can sleep up to five kids. It is fitted with bunk beds and is also suitable for a children’s nanny. There is a bathroom next door with a toilet, shower and washbasin.

Also located under the Dining Pavilion, is the air-conditioned TV and Entertainment Room. The furnishings?two large sofas, a glass-topped antique coffee table and two ottomans?can be pushed back against the wall to create an impressive party space. The Palimanan stone pool deck is furnished with sun loungers and there is an open-sided ‘bale’, relaxation pavilion, positioned within the pool and accessed by stepping stones. Additionally, a raised walkway leads to an elevated bale, a traditional lazy, breezy gazebo with a thatched roof, open sides and a cushioned floor. There is an outdoor dining table with seats for 8, that is often used for outdoor barbeques and casual daytime dining.

This is the place to relax, contemplate and meditate, overlooking the river and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, butterflies and birds. A wide flat lawn planted with four palms is the ideal setting for parties, weddings and events. A pathway leads down to the river and the gardens spill out into the padi fields to a traditional pavilion designed for wedding ceremonies.

There is also an herb garden and an environmentally-friendly waste water garden. If the timing is right, guests will have the opportunity to plant some rice. Many of the rice fields that surrounded the villa are part of the estate.

On the far side of the river, a picturesque rice terrace is carved like an amphitheatre into the contours of the land.

Bedrooms
The air-conditioned Master Suite features a warm timber floor and sliding glass doors on three sides under a high roof. The modern furnishings include a king-size four poster bed, a couch and a desk and chair.

A flat screen TV with DVD is hidden within a rising cabinet that appears at the press of a button. This bedroom is complemented by a spacious timber balcony, which looks across the river to the rice terraces beyond. Here, two cushioned daybeds provide the facility for complete relaxation.

A dressing area and wardrobes (complete with a safe deposit box) are built in behind the bed and linked to the en-suite air-conditioned bathroom, which features a black terrazzo floor and twin washbasins upon a central vanity unit with two mirrors. A toilet and walk-in raindrop shower are located in two separate cubicles with frosted glass doors. The bathroom extends into a large and private walled garden planted with travellers’ palms, spider lilies and torch ginger. Here, a romantic oversized bathtub rests in the open air, sheltered from the elements by the overhanging roof. There is also an open-air shower.

Suites 2 & 3 are located in the family building. Suite 2 is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a double bed if required, while Suite 3 presents a king-size bed. Similar in style to the Master Suite with glass on two sides, both suites feature cool terrazzo floors and are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, daybeds, reading lights, iPod docking stations, safe deposit boxes, desks and chairs.

Both suites feature a private dressing and vanity area, each with wardrobes, double washbasins, an indoor shower and a toilet. Suite 2 is complemented by a private garden bathroom similar to that of the Master Suite, complete with an open-air bathtub sheltered by the roof. Suite 3 overlooks the expansive lily pond, with its beautiful, raised, infinity-edge moon pool and cascading waterfall. Guests in Suite 3 can relax on an adjoining timber deck, and enjoy the delights of a sheltered, open air bathtub beside the water-garden.

Suites 4 & 5 are housed within a two-storey building and each is equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, daybeds, reading lights, iPod docking stations, safe deposit boxes, desks and chairs. Suite 4 is located on the lower level and is similar to the other suites with a king size bed and the additional provision of a walk-in wardrobe, a teak shelf unit, a floating vanity unit with double washbasins, and a combined shower and toilet fashioned from white, tumbled marble.

The garden bathroom is characterised by an open-air rainshower beside the lily pond and waterfall. There is also a relaxing area with built-in seats and shelves in the garden bathroom complete with an outdoor bathtub. An external staircase leads up to Suite 5, the only upstairs bedroom at the villa, affording gorgeous views of the rice fields and river valley.

The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and an ottoman upon a timber floor under a soaring roof. Behind the sleeping space is a dressing area complete with floating vanity unit with twin washbasins, an indoor shower and toilet and a built-in wardrobe.

An ornately tiled outdoor bathtub is positioned upon a breezy balcony, where there is also a cushioned daybed. Additionally, there is an open-air shower and, to one side, a glassless window presents a wonderful view that guests can enjoy from a cozy window-seat.

Location
The Puri Bawana Estate is located in the fishing village of Canggu, within walking distance of the rugged beach, which is renowned for its world-class surf breaks. The locality is dotted with some of the most impressive villas on the island and the sweeping view is enhanced on clear days by the magical sight of the Bali’s mountains. This out of town setting offers the double attraction of being relatively close to the shops and restaurants of Seminyak, while also presenting a fascinating insight into the traditions of rural Bali. Cows are herded through the fields, rice is planted and harvested throughout year, and the sound of ritual music is carried on the breeze.

The Beach House Restaurant at the nearby Echo Beach is the place where the local community gathers in the evenings to watch the legendary sunsets. A variety of eating areas and tables spill out onto a beachside buff, and live music is complemented by seafood barbeques.

The trendy Seminyak area, with its wide choice of international restaurants?including the famous Kudeta, Kafe Warisan, Living Room, Hu’u, La Lucciola and Blossom ? together with a plethora of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques, is a mere 25 minutes’ drive away.

The location offers easy access up to the mountains and rice terraces on the western slopes of the island; it is one hour from the famous cultural and artistic town of Ubud, and just twenty minutes’ drive from the Sunset Route, gateway to the eastern side of the island.

It is also convenient for all of Bali’s shopping malls and main tourist attractions. The international airport is forty-five minutes’ drive.

Easily accessible sporting amenities include the Canggu Club, offering a state-of-the art gym, a 25-metre swimming pool and a tennis & squash centre. Puri Bawana is a member of the Canggu Club and its guests are given temporary memberships and may enjoy all the facilities of the club.

The nearby Nirwana Bali Golf Course at the Le Meriden Hotel, was designed by Greg Norman, and was voted the number 1 golf course in Asia; it is situated beside the dramatic, waved-lashed sea temple of Tanah Lot. For horse lovers, the ‘Umalas Equestrian Centre’ is just a few kilometres away.
