Living Area
One enters Taman Ahimsa into a boat-like shaped bamboo facade living area with comfortable interior design of recycled wood furniture and Indonesian batik pillows. It is connected to a large dining area. This gracious living area is located in the main two-storey pavilion, which presides over the entire property.

There are two sitting areas facing the gardens and sea, one is an elevated section with two antique daybeds, a chair and a coffee table, while at the lower level are two long built-in couches facing the garden and sea, as well as a magnificent antique low table, created from an old wooden boat, complete with six chairs. On the other side of this level is an open-air deck, with a frangipani tree growing through the floor. Walls and ceilings in this building are lined with bamboo.

Dining Room
The dining room is incorporated in the elevated open plan living area with lovely views of the garden. It is furnished with a huge wooden dining table that seats 14, over which dangles a pair of exquisitely designed copper lanterns. Adjacent to this is an antique hand-carved wooden window panel, which frames the cooking area of the gourmet kitchen.

Entertainment Room
The TV room is located upstairs, between the large bedroom and the terrace. This spacious sitting room has a recycled ironwood floor, and comfortable rattan furnishings, as well as a 37″ TV and DVD player.

Swimming Pool Area
The freeform 20-metre swimming pool is lined with green Java stone, and bordered by an ironwood deck furnished with over-sized rattan sun beds and umbrellas. It employs a low-to-no chemical ozone system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin. There is a large poolside lounge area here with connecting second pool dining area with kitchen and sitting area – ideal for leisure breakfasts, lunches, afternoon tea and sunset gatherings. Meditation Circle

It is fully equipped with an imported oven and five-burner hob, a double-door refrigerator, a built-in wine cellar and wine fridge, a cappuccino/espresso machine, a microwave, and everything else that the chef needs in order to prepare delicious meals in accordance with your whims. This bright and airy kitchen is further enhanced by a sliding glass door at the far end overlooking the ricefields. A wet kitchen is tucked away out of sight at the back, linked by a hatch.

Lounge
Entered from the open-air living space via antique double doors from Java, the spacious lounge features three sets of sliding glass doors on two sides, which maximise the views and allow for the cross ventilation of sea breezes. Alternatively, these doors can be closed for air-conditioned comfort. Furnished with an L-shaped segmented sofa, ottomans and a coffee table handcrafted from coffee wood, the room is equipped with a sophisticated Harman/Kardon music system presenting surround sound with seven speakers and a wide choice of music. There is also a billiard table and a selection of books and games to keep you entertained. A fitted shelf unit showcases some fascinating Indonesian artefacts including stone carvings and wooden statues, in addition to some tribal shields from Irian Jaya.

Media Room
The media room is positioned in the single storey wing, with views of the mountains and ricefields. This spacious home theatre is equipped with a big, flat screen, satellite-channel TV and DVD player, as well as a library of books, DVDs and a computer for guest use with Broadband internet access.

Garden
There are gardens on all sides of the villa, including the Ganesha garden, and the Sumba garden, which is distinguished by a cluster of enchanting statues from Sumba. The entrance garden showcases an ornamental pond, presided over by a towering Buddha statue. The front garden is dominated by the swimming pool and a helipad rests to one side, for guests who choose to arrive in style with a thrilling helicopter ride along Bali’s dramatic coastline. The garden is just footsteps away from the beach on an elevated buff, 13 metres above sea level. The beach is good for surfing although the strong currents make it dangerous for swimming. A walk along the beach at sunset is delightful.

The Swimming Pool
The enticing 27 x 11 meter swimming pool is ideal for swimming laps, it is curved on one side, following the contours of the terraced garden, and there is a shelf at the inner edge, which is a nice place for relaxing in cool shallow water.

Bedrooms
Each bedroom is equipped with a safe deposit box and an iPod dock, and each has an ensuite bathroom. All bedrooms are blessed with magnificent views of the coastline, ocean and gardens, or the mountains and ricefields, or – in the case of the master bedroom – a panoramic vista in all directions. While all of the bedrooms feature white walls and simple furnishings, each portrays a theme inspired by the Indonesian culture. Wherever you choose to sleep, the melody of the waves will lull you to sleep.

6 Unique Bedrooms
Babar is the master bedroom, characterised by glass doors on two sides, enabling access from both sides of the building. It features a Yogya stone floor under a soaring roof with open beams. It is furnished with a kingsize bed, which is fitted with a deep mattress resting on a base of antique ironwood planks. There is also hanging space, a fitted sideboard, wooden statues from Kalimantan, and a desk next to a wide window, overlooking the ricefields and Mt Batukau. There is a broad sunny terrace at the front of this room, offering wonderful views of the coastline and the night sky. Accessed by glass doors, the ensuite bathroom is light and airy, long and spacious, with picture windows positioned on three sides to maximise the stunning views. The bathroom is fitted with double washbasins, mirrors, a toilet, and double rainshowers.

Toraja The Toraja guestroom is located on the upper floor overlooking the ocean. Accessed via sliding glass doors, it features a soaring roof and is furnished with a kingsize bed, oriented towards the sea. There is also a pair of funky stone pebble lamps, artefacts from Toraja in Sulawesi, and a dressing area and hanging space behind the bed. The adjoining sunny, open-air bathroom is bordered by Yogya stone walls for privacy, yet still offers views of the ricefields and mountains. It is fitted with a bathtub for two in a cream terrazzo surround, twin washbasins, a large wall mirror and a toilet, all sheltered from the elements by an overhanging roof. Asmat The Asmat guestroom is located on the ground floor facing the ocean and a pretty corner of the garden with a collection of stone statues from Sumba. The room features glass doors on three sides. It is furnished with a kingsize bed, coffee wood lamps, a colourful painting, and a shelf and storage unit immediately behind the bed. The adjoining garden bathroom is fitted with a bathtub for two with a huge, cream terrazzo surround, twin ceramic washbasins, a walk-in raindrop shower with the additional provision of a handheld shower, carved wall mirrors and a toilet hidden behind a low louvre door. The private garden features a small lawn, planted with torch ginger, shrubs and palms.

Dayak The Dayak guestroom is a spacious family room on the upper floor facing the ocean. It furnished with two kingsize beds and features hanging and storage space, and two sets of sliding glass doors at the front. The room is decorated with artefacts from the Borneo’s legendary headhunters, the Dayak tribesmen, who inhabit Kalimantan’s deep interior highlands. The ensuite bathroom is the same as the bathroom adjoining the Toraja guestroom.

Agung The Agung guestroom is located in the single-storey wing with views of the mountains and ricefields. It is furnished with twin beds that can be pushed together, and features built-in hanging space in one corner and storage shelves behind the bed. It is named after Mt Agung, Bali’s highest and most sacred volcano, which can be seen from this bedroom on clear days, especially in the mornings and evenings. A painting of the mountain adorns one wall. Sliding glass doors open to the gardens on two sides of the room. The pretty garden bathroom is fitted with twin washbasins, a toilet and a raindrop shower that is open to the stars. The garden is planted with an ancient frangipani tree.

Ganesha The Ganesha twin-bedded guestroom and ensuite bathroom is located in the single storey wing with views of the mountains and ricefields, and its a mirror version of the Agung guestroom. It is named after the Ganesha Statue in the adjoining garden. Ganesha is the elephant headed Hindu God of making things happen and the remover of obstacles.

Dining Area/Kitchen
The main house contains a beautiful hand carver suar wood table that comfortably seats ten guests. The table is overlooked by a dramatic Buddha stone carving and enjoys views out over the gardens and ocean.

The main house also contains a more informal dining area on the outdoor terrace that seats ten people comfortably overlooking the ocean. This is often used for breakfast to catch the refreshing morning ocean breezes. Almost the whole of the downstairs of the main house is open plan with huge sofas and chairs to relax in and watch the timeless waves crash into the beach. The property features an 18m x 5m infinity edge pool dropping off to views of the ocean. A small pathway by the side of the pool takes you directly down to the beach where boogie boards are stored. Entering the villa, the staff quarter is set on the corner of a large covered parking separated from the villa area. Stepping ahead, a traditional Balinese gate and “Palimanan” stair leads down to the villa to reach a first opened sitting area. From here the visitor can appreciate the perspective of the villa with the infinity pool ending in the Indian Ocean.

Separated by an isle with a water fountain, each of the first two buildings is featuring one bedroom nicely set in cottage style each with private entrance. On the right side, the Jacuzzi Suite is featuring a private garden with a wall fountain and outdoor shower, the bedroom with en suite bathroom including bath tap, toilet and two basins, a walking dressing and a private Jacuzzi accessible directly from the bedroom. On the left side the Studio suite is featuring different gardens, one with out door shower, a very large bathroom including bath tap, toilet and two basins, two walk in dressing and a studio room with private entrance and direct access to the bathroom which could be change into an extra bedroom. The main two storey building overlooking the over flow swimming pool, the tropical garden and the Indian Ocean is featuring on the ground floor an open air living area divided into living, dining, pool sitting, a close media room set on the backside offering large flat TV screen completed with comfortable seating and a well equipped kitchen.

Villa Arika sits just back of the dunes on one of Bali’s best west-coast surfing beaches. Finish in April of 2002, it offers views of the Bukit to the south, to the north lie palms, rice terraces and a series of headlands, the nearest of them surmounted by a charming temple. From the master bedroom, you have a view of Mount Agung Bali biggest, most sacred volcano.

The Villa
This four-bedroom property is situated on 1.2 hectares on the beach and has amazing sunsets. There are two sleeping pavilions, each has an ocean view, air conditioning, ensuite bathroom with large bathtub and an outdoor shower in the very private garden and are beautifully finished with wooden floors and king sized beds. All of the bedrooms have a large outdoor patio/veranda with a large cushioned day bed. The villa has been built so that there are ocean views from every room in the house. All indoor rooms have air conditioning and all bedrooms have bathrooms ensuite.

Villa Arika is decorated in an eclectic fashion with a very tasteful mix of classic wood and marble pieces along with more contemporary rattan furniture. The cushions and silk pillows are made of fabrics from all over Asia and are in rich hues of purple and gold. The artwork has been collected by the owner the past 25 years and is from some of Indonesia most famous artists.

Upon entering the grounds, via the Balinese entrance gate, one finds oneself entering an extraordinary courtyard with lush tropical trees, flowers and plants and a trickling array of fountains. As you walk along the path to the 10 meter high outdoor living area, you pass by 4 ancient stone Balinese statues. Stone steps takes you across the fish pond and you enter the outdoor living area.

Upon entering you are immediately struck by the amazing views of the ocean that are just past the swimming pool and gardens. The blue tiled swimming pool and over 1 hectare of breathtaking tropical gardens surround you in this tropical paradise. The swimming pool has an invisible edge, deep blue tiles and is surrounded by gardens. The attached Bali has plush cushions to sit and enjoy the sunset and gardens.

The Setting
The property is entered via a traditional Balinese gate, sheltered by a thatched roof and framed in a patchwork of random rocks. A pathway leads past bulrush ponds and water spouts, and a welcome ensemble of five gamelan musicians hand-carved out of local paras stone. Stepping stones weave through the neat garden, past palm trees, dwarf lanterns, tipsy earthenware pots and sweet scented frangipani, between twin lotus ponds stocked with fish, to the 9 x 6 metre stand-alone living pavilion, which is centrally positioned, facing the ocean and bordering the pool deck. This room is completely encompassed by glass to preserve the view through the garden; the clever design allows guests to completely fold back the doors to create an open-air pavilion, cooled by natural breezes and ceiling fans. Bamboo blinds on all four sides can be dropped for privacy and shade. Featuring a cool terrazzo floor, the room is tastefully furnished with deeply-cushioned sofas, a low coffee table and stylish lamps. A selection of games and magazines is provided for the use of the guests, together with a high quality music system with surround sound provided by speakers hidden in the roof.

Positioned on the seaward side, aspected west towards the magnificent sunsets, the angled swimming pool appears to overflow into the beachfront garden. A timber sundeck is located on one side, the raised position ensuring that it catches the cool sea breezes. It is furnished with four sunbeds and two umbrellas and there is also an outdoor shower. A Buddha statue rests at one end overlooking the fresh green coastal lawns, which are dotted with coconut palms. The gardens are perfect for weddings, parties and functions, and also provide a great play area for children.

Dining & Kitchen
Approached by stepping stones, the striking hexagonal dining pavilion is completely open-air, sheltered by a soaring alang-alang grass roof. It features a terrazzo floor and is furnished with a grand dining table and ten chairs; a wonderful place to enjoy a semi-alfresco dining experience within sight and sound of the sea. A guest washroom and toilet is discreetly positioned to one side.

The immaculate, well equipped western-style kitchen adjoins the dining pavilion, and is fully fitted with gas stove, oven, and numerous appliances. Here, the cook will prepare delicious meals from a menu of Indonesian and International dishes.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The master bedroom is situated within another self-contained single storey pavilion. It is entered by a pair of solid teak antique doors complemented by a teakwood floor, and is characterised by a king-size four-poster bed draped in white muslin, together with cane planter chairs, ceramic lamps and eye-catching local artwork. The bedroom is also equipped with a flat screen satellite TV with DVD/music system, together with a split air-conditioning unit and overhead ceiling fan. Large sliding glass doors open on to an outdoor verandah running the length of the bedroom. This sheltered timber deck is furnished with a huge daybed, where guests can relax and enjoy the ocean vista and the rhythmic murmur of the waves. A door leads off the bedroom into a walk-in wardrobe complete with shelves, hanging space and a safe deposit box. The romantic en-suite garden bathroom is walled for privacy and is characterised by an open-air shower on a Palimanan stand, bordered by frangipani, palms, giant taro leaves and colourful croton. The room is dominated by an oversized sunken bathtub, fashioned out of cream terrazzo. The toilet is hidden behind a half-wall, on top of which reclines a Buddha statue.

Two more air-conditioned bedrooms, each complete with an en-suite bathroom, are located on the ground floor of the main two-storey building. One room is furnished with twin beds, ideal for kids, together with desk, chair, radio/tape player, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan and safe deposit box. Antique doors open into a lush garden bathroom featuring a sheltered oval bathtub and outdoor shower, toilet and vanity unit with washbasin. Sliding glass doors lead from the bedroom onto a timber deck, which runs the full length of the front of the building and is furnished with a table and four high stools. A double bedroom is also accessed from the wooden deck, and is a mirror image of the room next door complete with adjoining garden bathroom. It is furnished with a king size bed, together with desk, chair, radio/tape player, built in wardrobe, ceiling fan and safe deposit box.

An external sweeping staircase curves up to a large wooden balcony deck with a comfortable daybed from where guests can enjoy fantastic panoramic views while chilling out with a book or a sunset cocktail. This upstairs area houses the fourth air-conditioned bedroom, complete with sliding glass doors onto the balcony. It is attractively furnished with a four-poster king-size canopied bed and a time-honoured chest of drawers, and is fitted with a ceiling fan and safe deposit box. It also features an antique wooden door that leads onto the balcony. A third door accesses a bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and shell-veneered washbowl. The top section of the exterior wall is open to allow the fresh air to permeate together with the soothing sound of running water from the fountain in the garden below.

The study room is positioned next door to the upstairs bedroom and shares the adjoining bathroom. This room also doubles as a fifth bedroom, where guests can relax in snug, air-conditioned comfort. It is well equipped with a desk, Broadband Internet access, computer, 29-inch flat screen plasma TV with satellite reception and DVD/music system. There is also a wall unit with drawers, shelves and cupboards full of books, DVDs, music CDs, and games for the use of the guests. Glass-fronted doors open onto the verandah.

The Setting
With over 100 meters of private beach frontage, Villa Sungai Tinggi has the ultimate sunset panorama with views over to the Jimbaran Bukit headland in the south across to the Java coastline in the west and the cloudy peaks of Gunung Agung to the north. Set on a 2,750 square meter, gently sloping grounds, studded with coconut palms and fragrant frangipani trees, with a crystal clear 18 meter x 4 meter lap swimming pool, this home is a wonderful retreat far from the gaiety of tourist Bali.

The villa is refreshingly uncomplicated and simple in design with the sympathetic use of traditional Balinese architectural concepts and utilization of the best of local timbers and handcrafted stones and offers you every modern amenity.

Living and Dining Areas
The stunning main 12-meter x 8 meter open living and dining pavilion has been designed for relaxation and entertainment and provides optimum enjoyment of the wonderful ocean, river and unforgettable sunset views. The pavilion with its high natural alang alang grass ceiling, the tall supporting coconut columns and the cool cream terrazzo paved floors is the very essence of tropical living. Overhead ceiling fans and gentle sea breezes keep everyone cool and the ample lounge area seating assures that there is room for everyone to relax. The lounge has a music system with surround sound speakers in the ceiling. The 3 meter handcrafted coconut shell dining table for 12 makes for easy and elegant dining.

A separate air-conditioned indoor study has a Television unit complete with VCD and Video systems. A second upstairs casual open living area also has a Television unit with VCD, Video and Play station systems as well as a pool table for your enjoyment.

The grounds are beautifully grassed and maintained. The wonderful 18 meter long swimming pool is lined with green stone with a Palimanan stone surround and is only meters away from the beach. A swim in the pool, a surf at one of Bali’s most popular surf beaches, a beach walk, a bike ride up to the village and its surrounds or a quiet fish at the rock pools are all only a matter of steps.

The villa has four air-conditioned bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The villa has been designed with a master and study bedroom wings on ground level and a separate wing with two ground level bedrooms and a bedroom upstairs opening onto a casual living area. The cool and clean feel of dark teak timber floors underfoot have been used throughout and each bedroom has individual deluxe split air conditioning units as well as overhead ceiling fans.

The bedrooms have custom made oversized king beds with built in wardrobes. Often overlooked in tropical homes, all bedrooms have good quality curtains. The bedroom interiors have been tastefully furnished with a balance of modern rattan and collected antique furniture and artifacts.
